FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's and women's cross country teams will kick off their seasons at home with the Kara Hall Invitational on Sept. 2. The race is named in honor of Hall, a former runner for the Blue Devils, that passed away in May of 2020. 

Following a trip to Brockport on Sept. 9th, the Devils have some time off to prep for a second home invitational on Sept. 30. The Devils will then travel to Houghton -- home of the NCAA Regional Meet this year -- then Geneseo before competing in the SUNYAC Meet.

The conference meet will be held at Oneonta.

The men's team finished fourth at the SUNYAC Meet last season and will return six of the seven runners that placed at that meet. The top runner, however, is up for debate. Sembel Koshi was the top finisher at the SUNYAC Meet, but Kyle Campbell was the top Devil at the Regional Meet and earned All Region honors. Patrick Klinger and Josh Walters were also among the top Devils last season. Ethan Pocock was routinely in the top seven, and Sam Cottrell showed a lot of promise in his first season running after competing on the swim team.

The women's team will be led by returnees Vanessa Ryhal, Erin Cool, Liz Gloss, and six incoming athletes. They finished seventh at the SUNYAC Meet a year ago.
