OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State softball team would split in today's series against Oswego as the Devils routed the Lakers in game one 15-2 and would fall in the second 8-5.
Game One
This game was all Devils from start to finish as Fredonia State would erupt for 11 runs at the top of the second and would maintain a double digit lead the rest of the way. Fredonia State would recive multiple contributions as nine different Devils registered a hit and would finish the game 15 total hits.
Victoria Pauwels would turn in a great performance in today's doubleheader at Oswego hitting her first career homerun in game one with a three run shot to go up 9-0 in the second. The next batter for Fredonia would be walked and with doubles from
Megan Guidry and
Alexis Wulf, the Devils would close out the inning up 11-0.
Fredonia State would score two runs in each the third and fourth and with Oswego only scoring twice in third, the game was over in five innings.
The Devils were lead by
Allie Wandell who hit 2-4 with two runs and three RBIs, Pauwels would end the game 1-2, one run, one homerun and three RBIs. Guidry would chip in two runs and two RBIs going 2-3.
The pitcher for Fredonia State
Vanessa Galbraith would pitch three innings finishing with just three hits, two runs two errors and four strikeouts.
Game Two
The Devils would come out strong to start the game in the first. Lead off batter Wandell would double to right center and would go on to score off a Chelius double. Pauwels would then hit her second homerun of the night with a two run score.
Fredonia would score a run in the fourth and fifth to go up 5-0 but would collapse as the Lakers would score eight runs their last two at bats to close the game 8-5.
Pauwels would hit 1-3 with two runs, two RBIs and a homerun for the Devils. Wandell would bat 3-4 finishing with one run and one RBI.
The pitcher for the this game Chelius would finish the game batting 1-4 with a run and RBI while pitching five innings giving up eight hits, six runs with three strikeouts.
