Fredonia, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State
softball team cam up short in their double header match up against Geneseo. Game one ended with a Geneseo victory 2-10 and game 2 a final score of 7-3.
Game 1
Geneseo would earn three runs through the first three innings and would explode in the fourth with a Samantha Martz three run home run shot to deep left field to go up seven to nothing.
The Devils struggled throughout the game to find a rhythm on offense and would be held scoreless through the first five innings. The Devils would manage to score two runs at the bottom of the sixth but were stopped short.
Alexis Wulf would lead the Devils in hitting going 2-3 with one run scored.
Vanessa Galbraith would add one hit and a run as well. Geneseo's Kaitlyn Schmitz lead the Knights batting 4-4 with two RBIs with six strikeouts.
Game 2
Geneseo would jump out to a early 3-0 lead before the Devils would respond with
Marisa Sultana driving in
Alyssa Santiago for the first score of the game.
Megan Guidry would crush a double in the bottom of the third with two RBIs to tie the game up at three.
This would be as close as the Devils would get as the Knights would score twice in the 4th & 6th inning to put the game out of reach.
Emily Chelius for the Devils would go 2-3 on the night. Guidry would finish with 1-3 and two RBIs with Santagio having two runs. Geneseo was lead by Leah VanDerwarker who would have one run and two RBIs and Rebecca Schwartz finished 3-4 with two RBIs.
The Devils next game is on Saturday 04/15/2023 with another SUNYAC doubleheader versus Brockport.
