BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team came up just short against Medaille College in overtime losing to the Mavericks 12-11.Â
Sydney Buchko for the Devils had a strong outing scoring two goals while leading the team in assists with three and eight draw controls. Buchko also showed up big on defense leading the team with three caused turnovers and seven ground balls.

Erin Woods each scored twice for the Devils as well.
The first half favored Fredonia State with the Devils pushing the pace on offense. After the Mavericks scored the first goal of the game, the Devils would score the next four goals with three different players assisting.Â
The second quarter would prove to be a seesaw affair with each sides scoring four goals a peace. Despite giving up two straight goals to Medaille, the Devils would close out the first half up 7-5.
Throughout the second half the Mavericks would regain their composure with Katelynn Deveans finding the back of the net three straight times for Medaille and tying the game at eight.
With time running out in the fourth, Woods would Connect with Buchko to tie the game back up at 11 and close out the final three minutes
 of regulation to force overtime. In overtime Medaille's Deveans would score in the in the final minute to give the Mavericks a hard fought victory.Â
The Blue Devils now fall to 5-3 on the season and open up conference play Saturday March 25 at home against SUNY Oneonta with game time scheduled for 1:00 p.m.Â
