Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Devils fall at John Carroll

CLEVELAND, OH -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team came up short today on the road against John Carroll in non conference contest. The final score would be 70-53 in favor of the Blue Streaks. 

To start the game, John Carroll would jump the Devils early roaring to a 16-4 lead with 3:28 remaining in the first quater. A driving layup in the lane from freshmen Grace Alexander would draw Fredonia State within 10 points. The Blue Streaks would rattle off 6 straight points and would close the first up 22-8. 

Throughout the second quater, both sides would settle into a comfortable pace. The Fredonia State bench would provide a spark offensively scoring 14 points. However, John Caroll would own a slight edge in rebounding and would make the most of second chance opportunities, scoring 11 in the second. By the end of the first half John Carroll would lead Fredonia State 37-19. 

In the third, both sides would score 19 points a piece both sides capitalizing off of turnovers and key offensive rebounds. The Devils would manage to outscore John Carroll in the final quater but in the end, the lead that John Carroll built up in the first half would prove to be too much for the Devils.

Fredonia State's Allie Wandell would lead the Devils in scoring with points and would also add 7 rebounds. Caitlin Snyder would finish the night with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Mary CuletonPayton Gilbert would each score 9 points. 

John Caroll was lead by Ava Ryncarz who would finish the night with double-double scoring a game 22 points and snagging 12 rebounds. Bella Carcioppolo would add 19 points and 3 assists .

Kaylie McKenney & Halle Landies had 8 points each. 


John Carroll deals Fredonia State their first loss of the season dropping them to 4-1. The Devils look to rebound against Buffalo State in their first SUNYAC match up of the season this Saturday, December 2nd at 2:00 PM at Buffalo State.
