Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Bengals skate past Devils, 4-1

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's hockey team dropped a 4-1 contest vs. Buffalo State on home ice on Friday.

After Buffalo State's Tyler Penree opened the scoring at the 6:52 mark, Kurri Woodford tied the game at 1-1. Woodford ripped a wrister from the blue line that zipped past Buff State's Marcus Cumberworth 11:42 into the period. Ethan Pitzman and Ryan Bailey assisted. It was the third assist of the season for both.

The first period ended 1-1. Logan Dyck had 10 saves for the Devils and Cumberworth had seven for the Bengals, who held an 11-8 advantage in shots on goal.

Chris Blango gave the Bengals a 2-1 lead early in the second. Blango was in the right spot after a save by Dyck trickled behind him and Blongo tapped it in.

The Bengals upped their lead to 3-1 when Ryan Messing scored on a delayed penalty. Buff State followed with a power play but the Devils were able to fend off another score.

Buffalo State got its final score in the third on a 5-on-3 power play. Dyck blocked the initial shot, but Joe Glamos collected the rebound and ripped a shot in the top corner of the net from the left side. It was the Bengals only man-advantage goal as they went 1-7 on power plays. Fredonia State was 0-4.

The Devils outshot Buff State, 33-27. Dyck tallied 27 saves, while Cumberworth stopped 32 shots.

Nick Stuckless also added a pair of assists for the Bengals (2-3-0/1-2-0 SUNYAC). The Devils fall to 0-5-0 and 0-3-0 in the conference.

The same two teams meet again on Saturday, this time at Buffalo State. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m.
