ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State volleyball team took the second set from RIT, but could not capitalize, falling 3-1 to the Tigers.
The Devils were right there in the first set, trailing 23-22 before the Tigers scored the final two points. In the second set, the Devils led 24-14 when RIT rattled off six straight to keep it close. A kill by
Erin Callahan finished the set for the Devils.
RIT scored the first three points of the third set and led wire-to-wire. The Devils scored the first point of the fourth set, but RIT bounced back with the next eight points and cruised to victory.
The final set scores in favor of RIT were 25-22, 20-25, 25-14, and 25-10.
Callahan,
Gabrielle Sordetto, and
Kylie O'Brien each had eight kills. The Devils had 13 aces as a team, led by Sordetto with five.
Molly Cassidy had 23 assists, and
Elora Sherman had 14 digs.
The Devils fall to 5-19, while RIT moves to 10-20. The Devils wrap up the season Saturday with a match against Carnegie Mellon at Geneseo.
