SALAMANCA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State baseball team dropped a 12-9 SUNYAC game to Plattsburgh on Friday.
Plattsburgh scored three in the top of the first off starting pitcher
Pat Bigham.
The Devils would tie the game in the bottom of the second.Three straight hits to start the inning by Bigham,
Brian Chatt, and
Luke Kenyon gave the Devils the first run. An error on the pitcher brought home the second run. A Kenny Benitez liner tied the game at 3-all.
Plattsburgh bounced back with thre in the third. After getting the first two outs, an error extended the inning. Three straigh hits followed.
Fredonia State got one back in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly from Bigham.
Plattsburgh's big inning came in the fifth when they plated six runs, taking a 12-4 lead.
Kenyon singled home
Ryan Hann in the bottom of the sixth, but the Devils' rally was quashed when Bigham was cut down on the back end of the play.
The Devils did not go quietly, scoring four times in the bottom of the ninth. Hann hit a two-run blast for the first two runs. Three straight walks with two outs loaded tha bases.
Tylor Murphy delivered two-run single before the final batter struck out.
Bigham was 2-3 with a walk at the plate. Murphy, Kenyon, and Hann all added two hits apiece.
Christian Brown tossed three scoreless, and
Ryan Howard three a hitless ninth.
The two teams are scheduled for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Gowand on Saturday due to field conditions at Ludwig Field.
