FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State baseball team opened its SUNYAC portion of the schedule at Brockport on Thursday, and came out on the short end of 14-1 and 12-1 losses. The losses drop the Devils to 9-7 on the season.
Game 1
Brockport used a seven-run third inning and three-run fourth to take control of the game. They pounded out 15 hits and were aided by three Fredonia State errors.
The Devils were held to five hits, and scored their only run in the ninth.
Tylor Murphy led off the inning with a double. He would come around to score on a fielder's choice off the bat of AJ Kinney.
Nate O'Brochta took the loss for the Devils. Andrew Huffman improved to 4-0 for Brockport.
Game 2
Brockport struck early in Game 2, plating five runs in the first inning. They were aided by a pair of errors. Three more runs in the third gave the Eagles some breathing room for an 8-0 lead.
The Devils' lone run came in the sixth inning.
Johnny Genau singled and stole second. He scored on a single from
Pat Bigham.Â
Kevin Mahon suffered the loss for the Devils. Tom Kretzler scattered two hits in a seven-inning complete game to up his record to 2-0.
Brockport improves to 11-2.
The games were moved up due to weather forecasts. The teams take a day off before the Devils return to Brockport to wrap up the three-game set for a Saturday single game at Noon.
