CLERMONT, Fla. -- Two nationally ranked opponents got the best of Fredonia State on Monday at The Spring Games in Clermont. Fla.
The Blue Devils (1-8) were shutout in both games and no-hit in the first of two, a 7-0 loss to Eastern Connecticut State, ranked No. 6 in the NCAA Division III poll released Monday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. East Conn's Alexis Michon pitched the no-hit gem as her team improved to 6-2.
Millikin, ranked No. 20, rolled to a 14-0 victory to improve to 10-1 in Fredonia State's second game of the day. The Blue Devils collected three hits -- doubles by
Maria Caviris and
Amber Piniewski, and a single by
Isabella Rizzo.
Emily Chelius and
Vanessa Galbraith were the pitchers of record for the Blue Devils, who have an off day Tuesday before returning to action Wednesday with a pair of games, 10:45 a.m. vs. Rhodes and 12:45 p.m. vs. Augsburg at the Sleepy Hollow Complex in Leesburg, Fla.
