Devils hang on for another W

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State hockey team withstood a three-goal third period, hanging on to beat Oswego, 5-4, on Friday. The Lakers pulled the goalie in favor of an extra skater twice in the final three minutes, resulting in a pair of scores, but the Devils held on to defeat the SUNYAC-leading squad.

Fredonia State found its first goal of the game after a shot from the point that was tipped by Ethan Kirbis to go up 1-0.

Fredonia State's second goal was a repeat of the first as Parker Brakebill was able to tip in the shot by Anders Johnson from the point. This goal came on the powerplay, and put the Devils up 2-0.

Oswego came out hot in the third, scoring its second goal of the game 1:59 into the period. Fredonia State was able to answer back after David Sudbrink found Bryce Witman on the back door, to give the Devils a 5-2 lead.

Late in the game the Lakers pulled the goalie. In combination with a penalty, they used a 6-4 skater advantage to score with 1:57 left to play. The Lakers scored another goal after pulling the goalie with 54 seconds left to creep within a score, 5-4. The Devils controlled the puck the final minute and took home the victory.
