CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's basketball team came up short vs. Cortland on Tuesday, 89-66.
Aaron Collins led the Devils with 15 points -- all coming from three-point range -- and
Matt Aebersold added 11 points.
Kreem George added eight points and nine rebounds, and
Alon Kremerman had eight points.
The first half went back and forth, with 11 lead changes over the first 13-and-a-half minutes. With the Devils up 32-31 and 6:50 left in the half, Cortland went on a 9-0 run to go up eight points, 40-32.
Cortland would end the first half up twelve, 49-37. Collins had all 15 of his points in the half. Austin Grunder had 20 points at the midway mark to pace Cortland. He would finish the game with 31 points, one of five Red Dragons to score in double digits.
In the second half, the Devils would cut the lead to six points. Kremerman nailed a three at the 15 minute mark to cut it to 54-48, Cortland.The Red Dragons promptly went on a 10-0 run to essentially put away the game.
Both teams grabbed 36 rebounds. The Devils hit 13 threes compared to 12 by Cortland. Fredonia State was 12-24 from the line, and the Red Dragons hit 15-19 from the charity stripe.
Cortland improves to 8-10 overall and 4-7 in the SUNYAC.
Fredonia State stands at 3-16 and 3-9 in SUNYAC play. The are back home this weekend to take on Oneonta and New Paltz.
