SUNYAC Meet on Saturday

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State Cross Country teams will make the trek to Oswego this weekend to compete in the SUNYAC Championship Meet at the Fallbrook Recreational Center. The women will run first starting the 6K course at 11 a.m., and the men's 8K race will follow at noon.

The Blue Devil men -- currently ranked ninth in the Niagara Region -- look to improve upon their fifth-place finish a year ago. On paper, they are fourth behind Geneseo, Cortland, and Brockport. The last time they were fourth heading into the conference meet, back in 2015, the team came away with a second-place finish.

"We will look to be patient and take a stab at Cortland who is the next expected team," said head coach Tom Wilson. "It will be very tight up front with Geneseo, Brockport, Cortland, so we are hoping to turn heads and make an aggressive push."

The women will be led by Alexandra Battaglia, are sitting 6th on paper. "We are looking much stronger than years past," said Wilson. "We will need a very strong race to hold off Plattsburgh and try to beat Oneonta. Ally Battaglia will look to be All Conference."
