ERIE, Pa. -- Junior
Gabby Alston scored the game's only goal as the Fredonia State women's soccer team won its first game of the season, a 1-0 victory over Wooster at the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament hosted at Penn State Behrend on Saturday.
The goal came early in the second half. Alston caught Wooster's first-year keeper Amanda Flory out just a bit too far and scored on a shot over Flory's reach from atop the left side of the penalty box.
Wooster (1-1) outshot Fredonia State (1-0-1) 13-8 but could not capitalize on several opportunities. The Devils' Sabrina Suriani made eight save, compared to two for Flory.
The Devils take on Baldwin Wallacw at 11 a.m. in Erie on Sunday.
