BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Two big innings in the early going in both games of a doubleheader left Fredonia State scrambling but unable to rally in either game Friday at Brockport.
A 10-run first inning led to a 16-10 loss in Game 1. A Brockport 6-spot in the second inning of Game 2 was unsurmountable in a 14-6 loss. The sweep lifted the host Eagles to 4-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference while the Blue Devils fell to 0-4 both overall and in the SUNYAC, all at the hands of Brockport.
Fredonia State travels to Oswego for another SUNYAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon.

Tyler Phillips, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly by
Johnny Genau. Brockport then exploded for 10 runs in the first, highlighted by the first of two homers by Tom Kretzler.Â
Fredonia State added a run in the second on an RBI single by
Matt Heffernan; three runs in the fifth featuring an RBIs by
Brian Chatt,
Luke Kenyon, and
Ryan Hann; and five in the ninth on an RBI double by
Jordan Maher, and two-run double by Hann, and RBI triple by
Kenneth Benitez, and a sacrifice fly by Heffernan.

Sam Cestra was tagged with the loss.
Korey Canton turned in three solid innings of relief, allowing just one run and striking out four.
Down 1-0 in Game 2, the Blue Devils pulled even in the top of the second on an RBI groundout by Benitez. Brockport scored six times in the second and four more times in the third, countered by only one Fredonia State run on a double by Genau. An RBI double by Maher, an RBI groundout by Benitez, and an RBI single by
Zach Hemphill accounted for three Blue Devil runs in the sixth. Murphy homered in the seventh to close out the scoring.
Kenny Ynoa started and took the pitching loss.
