BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fredonia State dropped a SUNYAC softball doubleheader Friday at Buffalo State, 10-9 in the opener and 8-0 in the nightcap.
In the opener, the Blue Devils (4-10 overall, 4-6 SUNYAC) held a pair of leads in the middle innings before a two-run homer by Taylor Benton gave Buffalo State the lead for good, 10-8, in the last of the sixth inning.
Emily Chelius took the loss, yielding all 10 runs, six of them earned. Top hitters for the Blue Devils were Marissa Sultana and
Delana Thomas with three hits each.
Syd Merkley had three RBI, including a two-run double.
Nicole Kumro also had a two-run double, giving her team a 6-5 lead at the time.
The Blue Devils were limited to three hits in the nightcap, two by Kumro.
Katie Yudin was the losing pitcher.
Fredonia State will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday when it entertains Geneseo for a SUNYAC doubleheader starting at noon at Blue Devil Field.Â
