FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State defeated Oswego State, 7-2, in SUNYAC women's tennis Sunday afternoon to avenge a loss last week to the Lakers (2-2 overall, 2-2 SUNYAC).
The Blue Devils (3-2 overall, 2-1 SUNYAC) swept all three doubles matches and took four of the six singles matches. Double-winners on the day included
Jane Chiacchia and
Gabby Gance, who combined to win the No. 1 doubles match and their respective singles matches, Chiacchia at No. 1 and Gance at No. 4.
Bella Surma also won both her matches, winning at No. 5 singles and teaming with
Taylor Marelli at No. 2 doubles.
Also earning points for Fredonia State were
Princess Unita Obi at No. 3 singles, and the No. 3 doubles combination of
Dominique Martello and
Sarah O'Leary.
Fredonia State, which lost 5-4 on April 19 at Oswego, has one league match remaining, home next Saturday vs. Brockport.
