FREDONIA, N.Y. -- In the Fredonia State men's hockey team's first home game in quite some time, the Devils got a career night from goalie
Logan Dyck who stopped 50 shots in earning a 4-0 shutout. The Devils used a pair of goals in the first and third periods to power the offense.
Both teams sported 2-1 records following the game.
Fredonia State's first goal came from Johnny Aonso nine minutes in. He was assisted by
David Sudbrink and
Ethan Kirbis.
Cam Birkeland connected on the team's second goal four minutes later.
Parker Brakebill and Sudbrink assisted on the power play. The Devils held a 2-0 through the end of the second period.
Just under seven minutes into the third,
Birkeland connected on his second goal of the night. Sudbrink collected his third assist.
Trine pulled its goalie late in the third. The final goal for the Devils was an empty netter at the 2:00 mark by
Kurri Woodford. The assist came from the goalie, Dyck.
The story of the night was Dyck, whose 50 saves gave him his second consecutive shutout as he earned the game's First Star.
The Second Star went to Sudbrink who assisted on the first three goals. Birkeland's two goals earned him the Third Star.
Shane Brancato made 20 saves and allowed three of the four goals.
The Devils hope to take the evening's momentum into tomorrow's game, as they again take on Trine. Game time is slated for 4 p.m. The Devils will be skating in honor of Blue Devil captain Tanner Kahlau, who passed away last January. They will hold a ceremony for Kahlau and his parents prior to the game.
