Women's Swimming and Diving loses close meet to open year
ALFRED, N.Y. – The Fredonia State Women's Swimming and Diving Team lost their opening meet by a score of 104-102 to host Alfred State on Friday night.
The Blue Devils had several strong showings to stay competitive throughout the meet. Starting with the 200 Medley Relay, Fredonia State scored 13 points placing first and third. The first-place team finished with a time of 2:01.22 and was comprised of
Kayla Hagen (Gasport, N.Y.),
Lauren Ditchey (Springville, N.Y.),
Mindy Doktor (Akron, N.Y.), and
Lena Nakken (Islip, N.Y.).
McKayla Polowy (Silver Creek, N.Y.) and
Rachael Mayou (Palmyra, N.Y.) finished one-two in the 1,000 freestyle. Polowy came in 11:14.76 and Mayou followed with 11:27.18, earning 13 points for their team.
The duo earned another 13 points, finishing in the same order in the 500 free, with times of 5:40.18 and 5:55.58.
Hagen earned 18 points for the team, coming in first in the 50 free and 100 backstroke with times of 26.14 and 1:05.12, respectively.
Fredonia State competes next on October 23
