FREDONIA, NY - The Fredonia State men's basketball team dropped a 90-75 game vs. the Oneonta Red Dragons Saturday in a SUNYAC matchup.
Tyler Roberts and
Dydy Bryan powered the Blue Devils offense by putting up 22 and 20 points, respectively.
De'Quan Smith added 12 and
Moussa Samassa had 10.
Bryan also dished out 11 assists.
The game began with Fredonia State leading 12-6 at the 13:30 mark of the first half, thanks to a 10-0 Blue Devil run. The Red Dragons answered back by ripping off a 16-2 run and taking a 22-14 lead.
Oneonta continued its strong play and increased the lead to 48-31 by halftime. Oneonta shot a sizzling 59 percent from the field compared to Fredonia State's 38 percent.
Bryan and Roberts both had nine first-half points for Fredonia State.
The Blue Devils ripped off a 16-7 run to begin the second half, to make it a ten-point game, 57-47 with just under 14 minutes left to play.
Back-to-back three pointers from Smith capped a 10-2 Blue Devil run that brought the score to 80-70 with two minutes left to play. However, the Devils could not cut the deficit to single digits.
Six players recorded double-digit scoring for the Dragons, led by Dylan Trombley with 19. Kevin Mackin had 17.
The Blue Devils shot 52 percent from the field in the second half and outscored Oneonta, 44-42.
The Devils fall to 8-16 on the year with a SUNYAC record of 4-13. They wrap up the season at home against Buffalo State next Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
