FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia lost both ends of a non-conference softball doubleheader Wednesday to the University of Rochester, 7-1 and 10-2.
Sam Seegar took the loss in Game 1 and
Megan Maull drove in the only run.
Maria Caviris took the Game 2 loss.
Nicole Kumro had a double and a single.
The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 10-16. The Yellowjackets improved to 14-12.
Devils in the details:
GAME ONE
- Alizan Ayon hit a two-run homer in the Rochester first. Maull's hit in the Fredonia second cut the deficit to 2-1 and came after an error and a walk to Jules Vassallo.
- The Yellowjackets scored two more runs in the second and three in the third, including a solo homer by Ayon.
- Winning pitcher Elizabeth Bourne allowed just two hits
GAME TWO
- The Blue Devils took the early lead in the first inning. Karli Murray dropped a bunt ot lead off the first. Sydney Merkley dropped a bunt resulting in a rundown which allowed Murray to come around to score.
- Rochester drew even with a run in the second and pulled away by scoring at least one run in every inning except the sixth. The uprising including four runs in the fifth and 18 hits overall, three each by Harleigh Kaczegowicz, Jen Carson, and Toni Anne Hahn. Kaczegowicz also had four RBI.
- The Blue Devils added their second run in the fifth on a lead-off double by Nicole Kumro and a single by Rhianna Paoletti .
- Winning pitcher Addy Szczerba recorded seven strikeouts.

- Weather predictions Friday are iffy for Cortland, where the Blue Devils are headed for a SUNYAC doubleheader Friday, followed by a pair Saturday at Oswego. Stay tuned.
