MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Senior Luke Kuczewski recorded a season-high 14 strikeouts and fellow senior Kevin Yirinec bopped two homeruns leading the Devils to a 16-1 Opening-Day victory over Lehman College.

Kuczewski went eight innings, surrendering four hits and walking two. The lone blemish on the scoreboard came via the longball.

The Devils started the game with a bang. After a pair of walks and base hit, William Clifford cleared the bases with a double. Yirinec added a two-run blast in the first to stake Fredonia to a 5-0 lead.

Fredonia scored another run in the second, then tacked on a pair of runs in the third. A double off the top of the wall by Nic Fiore and a triple by Russ Mistretta keyed the rally.

Lehman got on the board with a solo shot in the top of the fourth. 

Fredonia responded with a four-run bottom of the fourth to expand the lead to 11-1. Yirinec hit his second two-run blast in the game. 

The Devils would score in every inning but the seventh. They finished the game with 15 hits. Fiore and Yirinec had three apiece, with Yirinec driving in five. Clifford added two hits and two stolen bases.

A.J. Kinney and Kenny Ynoa combined for a scoreless ninth.
