FREDONIA, N.Y. – Fredonia visits Buffalo State on Wednesday night in the first round of the SUNYAC men's hockey tournament.
Game time is 7 p.m. in the Buffalo State Ice Arena. The winner advances to a semifinal-round game Saturday at either Oswego or Geneseo.
Despite having the same conference record as the Blue Devils (8-6-2), Buffalo State earned home ice by virtue of a win and a tie vs. Fredonia during the regular season.
Fredonia is the No. 5 seed, Buffalo State the No. 4. It is their sixth meeting in the SUNYAC Tournament. Fredonia won the first three of those meetings (2007, 2008, 2011) and Buffalo State has won the last two (2013, 2017).
The Blue Devils (14-7-4 overall) are appearing in the SUNYAC Tournament for the third straight year and for the 25
th time in their 32-year history. They are playing their 11
th straight tournament playoff road game. The streak includes three games last year – wins at Plattsburgh and Oswego before losing at Geneseo in the conference championship game.
