FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Cole Teelin scored in the sixth minute and Jay Merlo in the 46th minute to lead Fredonia State over Alfred University, 2-0, in non-conference men's soccer Tuesday night.

William Richardson made three saves to earn his second collegiate shutout, both against Alfred. His first game in a 1-0 Fredonia State win last season at Alfred.

Teelin's goal at 5:48 of the first period came from the left of Alfred goalkeeper Ben Middlemiss, a hard strike which glanced off the underside of the cross bar. It was Teelin's second goal of the season. He was assisted by Matt Cullen.

Merlo's goal, also his second this season, came at 45:58 on a shot from the left wing off a pass from Matt Belardi.

The Blue Devils (5-6-2) have five games remaining, all in the SUNYAC, beginning Friday at Geneseo.
