BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Oneonta Red Dragons scored early and scored late for a 2-0 men's soccer win Friday over Fredonia State at University Stadium.

Scott Cebollero converted a penalty kick in the eighth minute and Witman Hernandez connected on header off a free kick in the 88th minute. It was Hernandez's 11th goal of the season.

Fredonia State's two best scoring chances were both by Jay Merlo. He went in alone twice, once in each half, only to be turned aside both times by Oneonta's Nate Hanna (five saves). Ty Bentham made five saves in the Fredonia State net.

While the Red Dragons improved to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference, the Blue Devils fell to 4-5-2 and 1-2-0. They are back at home 1 p.m. Saturday vs. New Paltz.
