BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's basketball team dropped a 61-51 road game at Brockport on Tuesday.
Katie Pitcher (Fulton, N.Y. / Hannibal) and
Sarah Sweazy (Rochester, N.Y. / Rush Henrietta) each scored 12 points, and
Jenna Einink (Westfield, N.Y. / Chautauqua Lake) added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
The loss drops the Devils to 5-7 in the SUNYAC and 8-11 overall.
Brockport improved to 6-5 and 8-10 overall. Emily Nestler had 17 points and Bailey Pratt had 14.
Brockport took an 18-13 lead after one quarter. Fredonia scored the first six points of the second quarter to take its first lead, 19-18, since the opening basket.
There would be two ties and two lead changes before the quarter ended with Brockport up, 28-26.
After Fredonia took a 31-29 lead following a layup by Einink early in the second half, Brockport rattled off 11 straight points to take the lead for good. They would lead 46-37 by the end of three.
Pitcher hit a pair of free throws and converted a layup at the midway point of the fourth quarter as Fredonia closed within five points, 52-47, with 5:07 on the clock. Brockport closed the game outscoring the Devils 9-4.
The Devils return to action in Dods Hall this weekend with games on Friday and Saturday vs. Potsdam and Plattsburgh.
