FREDONIA, N.Y. -- New Paltz defeated Fredonia, 79-59, in SUNYAC men's basketball action on Friday.
Tyler Roberts (Rochester, N.Y. / Wheatland Chili) led the Devils with 12 points, including a six-of-six effort from the charity stripe.
Kadeem Riddick (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Erasmus Hall Campus) added 11 points, and
Isaiah Ice (Bronx, N.Y. / Iona Prep) reached double digits with 10 points.
New Paltz took a 12-point lead, 43-31, by the half. They were aided by 59 percent shooting from the floor and were six of seven from the line. Fredonia shot 35 percent from the floor. New Paltz also held a healthy 20-6 advantage in rebounds.
Roberts had eight points off the bench to lead the Devils. Tristan Wisserman led all scorers with 11 points at the midway point.
New Paltz maintained its lead throughout the second half as the Devils failed to gain momentum, trailing by at least 11 points throughout the period.
New Paltz (8-7 overall / 3-5 SUNYAC) was led by Scott Reisert with 19 points, and Wisserman and Jake Passaretti had 17 apiece.
The Devils shot 20 of 26 (77 percent) from the line, but just 35 percent from the field. New Paltz finished the game shooting 54 percent from the floor, and wound up with a 39-19 advantage in rebounds.
The Devils (2-12 / 1-6) are scheduled to take on Oneonta on Saturday in Dods Hall. Gametime has been pushed up two hours to 2 p.m. in an effort to beat Winter Storm Harper. The women tip off at Noon.
