BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Senior goalie
Nicole Burrows (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / Baldwinsville) set the new school save record in aiding the Fredonia women's lacrosse team to its second win of the season, 16-9, over D'Youville.
Burrows made 13 saves and now stands at 593 for her career. She surpassed Casey Chiesa (2010-13) who finished with 591 saves.
Casey Villagomez (West Seneca, N.Y. / West Seneca West) led the offense with six goals and three assists, while
Alexis Skowron (Elma, N.Y. / Iroquois) added three goals.
Emily Ellis (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield) and
Alli Coon (Livonia, N.Y. / Livonia) each had a pair of goals.
D'Youville scored first before Skowron would give the Devils the lead with back-to-back goals. Fredonia scored the next four goals as well, going up 6-1.Â
The Devils would take an 8-3 lead into the half. Midway through the second, they built a 13-5 lead to put the game away.
Villagomez also led the team with six groundballs, and
Melanie Orffeo (Clarence, N.Y. / Clarence) added three.Â
Burrows played the first 47:37 in goal before giving way to
Sophie Jones (Lakeview, N.Y. / Frontier) who made four saves and allowed three scores.
Fredonia wraps up its season on Senior Day this Saturday vs. Oneonta. Gametime is slated for 1 p.m. at University Stadium.
