CANTON, N.Y. -- SUNY Canton upset Fredonia, 4-2, in non-conference men's hockey Friday night.
Sean Shepard scored late in the third period to break a 2-2 tie and Jake Mayette added an empty netter with :56 seconds left to drop the Blue Devils, ranked No. 14 nationally, to 8-2-1 overall. It also ended Fredonia's eight-game unbeaten streak.
Luke Rivera (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) and
Jimmy Morgan (Highlands Ranch, Col.) scored the Blue Devil goals. Rivera's team-leading eighth of the season forged a 1-1 tie at 11:54 of the first period. Morgan made it 2-2 at 17:13 of the second period on a power play. It was his fourth goal of the season.

Anton Rosen (Orsa, Sweden) made stopped 23 of 26 shots, including a highlight-reel diving stick save in the first period.
The Blue Devils and Roos (4-6-1) are back in action at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon. It is Fredonia's final game of the first semester.
