NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's volleyball team improved its conference record to 3-1 with a 3-2 win over Oswego in Pool Play at New Paltz on Friday.
The Devils took the first two sets 25-15 and 25-20. Oswego bounced back with 25-12 and 25-19 victories. The Devils would prevail 15-13 in the final set to claim the win.
"It was an up and down match for both team," said head coach
Geoff Braun. "but we showed a lot of resiliency in the fifth set to earn the win."
SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown, N.Y. / Southwestern)Â led the Devils with 18 kills and four service aces, and
Kailey Falk (York, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy)Â added 11 kills and a pair of aces.
Rachel Aiello (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) had 21 digs, as the team combined for 71 in the five-set match.
Emma Falk (York, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy)Â was credited with nine blocks.
Oswego dropped to 12-7 overall and 1-3 in the SUNYAC.
Fredonia (12-6 / 3-1 SUNYAC) takes on both Oneonta and Potsdam on Saturday to finish the second of three rounds of Pool Play.
