GENESEO, N.Y. -- The FredoniaĀ women's volleyball team fell to New PaltzĀ on Friday, 3-1. The loss prevents the Devils from any chance of a first-place finish in the SUNYAC.
New PaltzĀ improved to 7-0, while the Devils fell to 5-2 with two matches left to play.
New PaltzĀ took the opening set, 25-17, and the Devils evened things at one set apiece with a 25-23 victory in the second set. The Hawks took the final two sets, 25-16 and 25-22.
The Devils featured a balanced attack offensively with
SallyAnne RudnyĀ (Jamestown, N.Y. / Southwestern) leading the way with 12 kills.
Emma Falk (York, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy)Ā collected 11 kills,
Emily Jones (Plainfield, Ill. / Joliet Catholic) had 10 kills, and
Kailey Falk (York, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy) had 9.
Amanda MosackĀ (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder) had 41 assists.
Rachel AielloĀ (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) had 17 digs, and Jones had three blocks.
FredoniaĀ now standsĀ at 16-6 overall. New PaltzĀ moves to 22-4.
The Devils, who have clinched a post-season berth, take on Plattsburgh and GeneseoĀ tomorrow beginning at Noon.
