BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fredonia led 4-1 at halftime of its 5-1 win over D'Youville in men's soccer at Buffalo State.
Five different players had a goal as the Blue Devils improved to 2-0 following the Fred Hartrick Classic at Coyer Field.
Ryan Ross (Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) had a goal and an assist during the first half outburst. His header off a cross from
Noah Gittleman (Commack, N.Y. / Commack) in the 37th minute staked the Blue Devils to a 2-1 lead. Ross then set up
Dave Trabold (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport) following a corner kick less than a minute later for a 3-1 Fredonia lead.
A one-time by
Aaron Hayes (Hamburg, N.Y. / St. Francis) off a through ball from
Pa Lu (Buffalo, N.Y. / International Prep at Grover Cleveland) completed the first-half scoring in the 44th minute.
Matt Casey (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville South) opened the scoring with a direct kick in the 21st minute.
Parker Healy (East Aurora, N.Y. / East Aurora) had the only goal of the second half when he connected in the 73rd minute on a one-timer off a cross from
Sam Wagner (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint).
Ty Bentham (Columbus, Ind.) made four saves in the Blue Devil net. His teammates had an advantages in shots, 18-8, and corner kicks, 8-1.
The Blue Devils taken on Alfred State at 6 p.m. next Friday during the home Blue Devil Classic at University Stadium.
