Geoff Braun won his 400th match as a Blue Devil boss as the Fredonia women's volleyball team split its first two matches at the Cortland Red Dragon Classic on Friday. The Devils fell to Stockton 3-2 after winning the first two sets, but rebounded by dropping Utica, 3-1.
They the opener to Stockton by set scores of 25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 27-29, and 9-15.
Kristen Stanek (Hamburg, N.Y. / Orchard Park) led the offense with 20 kills and five blocks.
Rachel Aiello (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) added 17 kills while
Hallie Christopher (East Amherst, N.Y. / Clarence) had 51 assists.
Defensively,
Courtney Poirier (West Seneca, N.Y. / West Seneca West) had 21 digs and freshman
Selena Brown (South Ozone Park, N.Y. / Hillcrest) had five blocks in her college debut.
The Devils bounced back by dominating Utica, 25-10, 25-18, 22-25, and 25-4.
Stanek again paced the offense with 15 kills and four service aces.
Emma Falk (York, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy) added eight kills and
Amanda Mosack (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder) collected 32 assists.

Kailey Falk (York, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy) and
Makenna Kallin (Owego, N.Y. / Owego Free Academy) both had five aces and the Devils had 20 as a team.
Rachel Poirier (West Seneca, N.Y. / West Seneca West) had 13 digs.
The Devils wrap up the weekend taking on the US Coast Guard Academy and Juniata on Saturday.
