BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fredonia scored all its run in three innings Thursday while downing D'Youville, 12-1, in non-conference college baseball.
The Blue Devils hung three crooked numbers on the scoreboard: Four in the fourth inning, five in the fifth, and three in the seventh. They also hit three homers, one each by
Patrick Sheehan (West Seneca, N.Y.),
Alexio Medina (Marilla, N.Y.), and
Michael Prentice (West Seneca, N.Y.).
Fredonia batters combined for 14 hits. Sheehan, Medina,
Kevin Yirinec (Fairport, N.Y.), and
Joshua Crocetti (Rochester, N.Y.) had two hits each. Sheehan was the top run-producer -- he scored three runs and had four RBI.
Ben Atkinson (Syracuse, N.Y.) pitched a complete-game five-hitter with nine strikeouts. He came one out from pitching a shutout before D'Youville scored an unearned run with two outs in the last of the ninth.
The Blue Devils (14-13 overall) are scheduled to close out their week with a non-conference doubleheader Saturday at home vs. Alfred State. Game time at Ludwig Field is noon.
