BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Montclair State rallied for a 12-10 women's lacrosse win Saturday over the Fredonia Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils (1-6) led by four goals twice in the first half before the Montclair began their comeback.
The Red Hawks (6-1) took their first lead, 10-9, with 10:24 left on a goal by Chelsea Orban, her fourth of the game. Francesca Verrone added an insurance goal with 3:27 remaining.e
Audrey Yokopovich (Webster, N.Y.) had four goals to lead the Fredonia scoring.
Katie Miller (Hamburg, N.Y.) had three goals, her last one cutting the Blue Devil deficit to 11-10 with 7:38 left. The Red Hawks' Francesca Verrone scored an insurance goal with 3:27 to go.
Yokopovich added one assist, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers while Miller collected two assists.
Jen Kershner (Liverpool, N.Y.) had two goals,
Jade Williams (Tully, N.Y.) added one goal, and
Samantha Spiess (Fairport, N.Y.) collected three assists.
The Blue Devils return to action Thursday at 5 p.m. against Nazareth at University Stadium.. It's the first home game of the season.
