LAKE MYRTLE, FLA. -- Fredonia fell to the No. 16 Oswego Lakers, 9-0, on Saturday. The Devils wrap up their spring trip with a 5-4 record and stand at 8-7 overall.
Oswego got on board early, scoring four runs in the first, one in the second, and a pair in the third to take a 7-0 lead. They tacked on two more in the seventh to give the final.
Fredonia pitchers combined to strike out a season-high 10 batters.
Luke Kuczewski (Orchard Park / Orchard Park) took the loss going five innings and giving up five earned. He struck out five.
Christopher Kuchta (Tonawanda, N.Y. / St. Joseph's) pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, punching out four.
Oswego outhit the Devils 12-9.
Jon Morrison (Macedon / Pal-Mac) was on base all three times, going two for two with a hit-by-pitch.
Steve Zaprowski (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville South) and
Kevin Yirinec (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport) each added a pair of hits. The Devils wasted a pair of bases-loaded opportunities.
Mike Dellicarri was the only Laker with a multi-hit day, which included his second homerun of the series.
The Devils are scheduled to return home next weekend to play host to Cortland.
