HAMBURG, N.Y. -- The Fredonia men's basketball team dropped a 70-54 contest to Hilbert College in the consolation game of the Hawk's Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday. Dante Williams (Buffalo, N.Y. / Hutch Tech) led the team with 9 points. A trio of players scored 8 points --

Fredonia jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the early going. Hilbert then went on a 9-2 run, to go up 12-8 at the 12:44 mark. The game stayed close through the half, with Hilbert holding a 27-24 lead at the break.
Hilbert scored on its first three possessions to go up nine, 33-24 to start the second half. After a layup by Williams broke the run, the Hawks used a pair of free throws and a jumper to take their first-double digit lead of the game, 37-26.
Hilbert's largest lead of 22 came with 4:19 left to play. A layup by the Hawk's Masia Phillips made it 63-41.
Fredonia outscored Hilbert 13-7 down the stretch to give the final.
Hilbert held a 33-32 edge in rebounds. Both teams made four three pointers, and Hilbert shot 25 of 57 (44 percent) from the floor, compared to Fredonia's 18 of 48 (38 percent).
Freshman
Jonathan McDonald (Brooklyn, N.Y. / High School for Public Service) led the Devils with 9 rebounds and had 7 points off the bench.
Hilbert (1-1) was led by Hunter Martineau with 15 points.
The Devils (0-3) travel to Waynesburg on Wednesday to take on the Hornets.
