FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Nationally ranked Cortland continued the dominance of SUNYAC men's soccer with an 8-1 victory Friday afternoon over the Fredonia Blue Devils.
Matt Aprile and Migell Ormsby had two goals each while Mc'Cain Springling, Jake Kaufman, Sam Fuller, and Bronson Harris had one goal each for the Red Dragons, No. 6 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll.
Pa Lu (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored for Fredonia.
Cortland improved to 11-1-0 in the conference and 5-0-0 in the SUNYAC. Fredonia dropped to 6-5-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the conference.
The Blue Devils had three starters out because of injury. They are back at home vs. Oswego at 1 p.m. Saturday.
"When you play a Top 10 team in the country," Fredonia Head Coach
P.J. Gondek said, "you really need experience. ... The starting lineup consisted of two seniors, a junior, five sophomores, and three freshmen -- not a remedy for success in the SUNYAC. But tomorrow is another day. If we can get three points, we can stay in contention."
