BOXSCORE 1 | BOXSCORE 2 FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia defeated Hilbert, 3-0, before falling to John Carroll, 3-0, on Friday night at Dods Hall as part of the Fredonia Blue Devil Women's Volleyball Invitational.

Kristen Stanek (Hamburg, N.Y./Orchard Park) had 12 kills and a .370 hitting percentage in the Devils' 25-14, 25-19, 25-14 victory over Hilbert. Saverina Chicka (Shelter Island, N.Y./Shelter Island) added seven kills and hit .385. Hallie Christopher (East Amherst, N.Y./Clarence) had 33 of Fredonia's 36 assists. Rachel Poirier (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca West) had five service aces and Stanek had three. Rachel Aiello (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) was credited with 11 digs while Kelsey Falk (York, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) had eight digs. 

As much as they were in command in the early match, the Blue Devils (11-7) played catch-up throughout the 25-12, 25-17, 25-17 loss to John Carroll in the nightcap. Megan Collins (Burlingham, N.Y./Pine Bush) led at the net with seven kills while Stanek added six. Amanda Mosack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) assumed the setter's role and contributed 26 assists, while Falk had two services aces. Defensively, Aiello and Courtney Poirier (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca) each had 12 digs.

The Blue Devils take on Rochester Institute of Technology at 10 a.m. and Buffalo State at 2 p.m. in Saturday's action.
