FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Senior right-hander
Zachary Jordon (Akron, N.Y./Akron) pitched a complete-game six-hitter and senior
Quinn Danahy (Buffalo, N.Y./Bishop Timon-St. Jude) went 4 for 4 with two RBI as Fredonia kept its SUNYAC baseball playoff hopes alive with a 4-2 home win Friday over Plattsburgh.
Jordon struck out eight, walked none, and pitched around three Fredonia errors. Danahy had a single in the second inning, an RBI single in the fourth, an RBI triple in the sixth, and a single in the eighth inning.
Senior catcher
Dan Cecilia (Utica, N.Y./Whitesboro) added two hits and two RBI to Fredonia's 10-hit attack.
Jordan finished the game with a flourish by retiring the last seven Plattsburgh batters, sriking out all three in the ninth inning. He improved to 4-4 this season while the Blue Devils improved to 18-18 overall and 8-10 in the SUNYAC.
In order to make the SUNYAC Tournament, the Blue Devils need to sweep Saturday's doubleheader from Plattsburgh -- first game at noon -- and get more help from Brockport, which defeated New Paltz 6-0 on Friday afternoon. New Paltz can claim the final spot -- and eliminate Fredonia -- by winning at least one of their games Saturday.
