HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The Fredonia baseball team dropped a 7-3 decision to R.I.T. on Wednesday evening. The loss dropped the Devils to 3-2, and the Tigers are 1-0. The game was played at Houghton College.

Both teams employed the "Johnny Wholestaff" approach, with the Devils using seven pitchers. Carl Wolf started, going two innings and allowing one run. Jason Weyman and Lucas Schaefer each threw scoreless innings, and Kyle Smith tossed a pair of scoreless frames.

Zach Lyman took the loss, going two innings and giving up three runs. Josh Koepsell and Mike Bessette also took turns on the mound.

Offensively, Quinn Danahy and Liam Kelly each had three hits. Rob Wiegand added a pair of hits. Fredonia had three doubles, with Kelly, Ciro Frontale and Matt WIlhelm each knocking a two-bagger. The Devils had 11 hits as a team.

R.I.T. had 16 hits, with Dom Scialaba leading the way with four. Will Gorman had three hits.

Brett DeLola earned the win, tossing a scoreless third and fourth innings. The Tigers used seven other pitchers, each one throwing one inning.

The Devils are back on the road, traveling to Allegheny College on Saturday. In the event of poor field conditions at Allegheny, the game may be played at a turf field in Butler, Pa.
