FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's basketball team won handily over Medaille, 82-52, on Sunday. Four Devils reached double digits in scoring, led by
Jenna Einink (Westfield, N.Y. / Chautauqua Lake) who finished with team highs of 14 points and nine rebounds.
Sarah Sweazy (Rochester, N.Y. / Rush Henreietta) added 13 off the bench.
Jacque Law (Machais, N.Y. / Pioneer) and
Alexis Cheatham (Lockport, N.Y. / Lockport) each had 11 points.
Khee Nance (Dunkirk, N.Y. / Dunkirk) finished with nine points and
Jamie Curry (Ransomeville, N.Y. / Wilson) had eight rebounds.
Fredonia led 38-26 at the half, then exploded to outscore Medaille 30-8 in the third quarter. No Fredonia starters saw action in the fourth quarter.
Fredonia won the battle on the boards, 62-42, and shot 41 percent from the field, compared to 31 percent for Medaille.
Medaille (1-2) got the bulk of its offense from MarceAnn Dunning and Kelli McCauley who finished with 20 and 14 points, respectively. The Mavericks were slowed by shooting only 30 percent (six of 20) from the foul line.
Fredonia (2-0) travels to Hilbert on Tuesday.
