FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Joe Santino scored 13 seconds into overtime to lift Morrisville to a 4-3 win over Fredonia in SUNYAC men's hockey Friday at Steele Hall.
Fredonia's
Mac McAvoy (Port Colborne, Ont.) forced overtime with an even-strength goal with 5:02 left in the third period.Â
Off a draw in the offensive end, Santino won the game when one-timed a snap shot from top of the left circle. It was his second goal of the game and fourth of the season.
The Blue Devils jumped to a 1-0 on the first collegiate goal by
Gavin Nickerson (Corvallis, Ore.) at 14:45 of the first period.
Samuel Wilbur (Saginaw, Mich.) scored Fredonia's second goal to forge a 2-2 tie at 16:37 of the second period, his second goal of the season. He also had an assist Friday.
McAvoy's tying goal came after a shot from the point from
Michael Freeman (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.).
Jared Young made 36 saves in net for Morrisville while
Eric Bogart (London, Ont.) Â
The Mustangs improved to 1-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the conference while the Blue Devils fell to 2-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the SUNYAC.
