FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Justin Kellett had a goal and an assist Friday to lead Potsdam over Fredonia, 2-1, in SUNYAC men's soccer at University Stadium.

Kellett scored the go-ahead goal midway through the 59th minute when he beat a Fredonia defender to a 50-50 through ball from teammate John Becker.

Sam Greco (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) scored for the Blue Devils while Ritchie Hetherington had the first Potsdam goal.

Jake Mitchell made six saves in goal for Potsdam. Ty Bentham (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) was in goal for Fredonia. He was credited with seven stops.

Fredonia fell to 3-3 in the SUNYAC and 9-5-1 overall while the Bears improved to 2-3-1 in the conference and 7-4-2 overall.

Greco gave Fredonia a 1-0 lead late in the 33rd minute with his second goal of the season. Parker Healy (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) started the play in the midfield with a pass ahead to Ryan Keller (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora). Keller sent a through ball ahead to Greco, who beat a defender to the ball and slid the ball into the net.

Potsdam pulled even five minutes later as Kellett crossed from the far right corner and found Hetherington racing up the field alongside a defender. Hetherington headed the ball while in full stride for his first goal of the season.

Fredonia gained a man-advantage when Hetherington was assessed a red card for a hard, high tackle with 21 minutes remaining. Fredonia was unable to score the equalizer.

The Blue Devils are back at home 1 p.m. Saturday vs. Plattsburgh, the final home game of the regular season. The seven Fredonia seniors will be recognized during a pre-game ceremony.
