BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The rematch from the 2014 SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Championship was again favorable for the New Paltz Hawks.
The Hawks took down Fredonia in five sets (25-22, 25-17, 18-25, 23-25, 11-15) on Friday in the first meeting of the two teams since last year's SUNYAC final.
The Blue Devils controlled the first two sets, accumulating a .236 hitting percentage before the Hawks rallied back to claim the next three including the decisive 15-11 win in the final set.
Sara Madison (Rochester, N.Y. / Penfield) collected 11 kills, while
Kristen Stanek (Hamburg, N.Y. / Orchard Park) and
Saverina Chicka (Shelter Island, N.Y. / Shelter Island) has eight and seven kills respectively.
Kelly Edinger (Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Athena) finished the match with 38 assists, while libero
Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster, N.Y. / St. Mary's of Lancaster) tallied 22 digs.
The Blue Devils now stand at 12-3 on the season. On Saturday they will play two more SUNYAC matches: 10 a.m. against Buffalo State and 3 p.m. against Plattsburgh.
