PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's basketball team dropped a 97-79 decision to St. John Fisher on Friday despite a career-high 30 points from freshman
Jenna Einink (Mayville, N.Y. / Chautauqua Lake). The loss dropped the Devils to 5-2, while Fisher improves to 6-2.
Einink came off the bench to go 10 of 14 from the field, and nine of 14 from the line. She added a team-high eight rebounds.
Alexis Cheatham (Lockport, N.Y. / Lockport) added 14 points, and
Sabrina Macaulay (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) 12 for Fredonia. Fisher had four players in double digits, led by Mary Kate Cusak and McKenzie Bezon with 19 apiece.
Fisher led for most of the first quarter until
Khee Nance (Dunkirk, N.Y. /Dunkirk) hit a free throw to make it 12-all with 2:18 left in the initial frame. Fisher then scored on back-to-back possessions and led the rest of the way.
Fredonia outrebounded the Cardinals 33-32, but committed 23 turnovers to Fisher's 14. Fisher also had an 11-5 advantage in three-point field goals.
The women wrap up the 2015 calendar year at home this Sunday. They take on the Alfred State Pioneers for a 2 p.m. matinee.
