FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Blue Devil women's volleyball team closed out the home portion of their schedule with a dominant 3-0 win over Medaille on Tuesday night (25-19, 25-22, 25-12).
The team also celebrated the graduation of four seniors:
Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster),
Paulina Rein (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker),
Jessica DiChristopher (Cheektowaga, N.Y. / West Seneca East), and
Kelly Edinger (Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Athena).
DiChristopher turned in her best performance of the season, finishing with a .480 hitting percentage and 15 kills. Her kill total was also a season-high for a three set match. Rein finished with an impressive .389 hitting percentage and nine kills, along with 12 digs.
Edinger, the school-record holder in assists, piled up 38 more to bring her season total 1,040. Libero
Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster, N.Y. / St. Mary's of Lancaster) added 10 digs to her season total. She's now totaled 537 digs for the season, which ranks sixth-place all time at Fredonia.
The team will travel to Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y. this weekend for the New York Challenge, playing four matches between Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Nov. 6 the SUNYAC Tournament begins in Brockport, N.Y. Fredonia will play Oswego in the quarterfinal round at 3 p.m.
