FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia scored early and often Tuesday in its 5-2 women's soccer home win over Elmira.
The Blue Devils scored four times in the first 12 minutes. That surpassed their highest goal total in any of their previous 17 games.
The win lifted Fredonia to 5-12-1 overall while Elmira fell to 3-12.
Kristie Kleine (Cazenovia, N.Y.) scored twice and
Maria Gordon (Stephentown, N.Y.) and
Audrey Yokopovich (Webster, N.Y.) had one goal each during the early onslaught.
Appearing in her final collegiate game, defender
Michelle Hale (Lockport, N.Y.) completed the scoring in the 88th minute with her first collegiate goal. Kleine, Yokopovich,
Alexis Moreland (Newfane, N.Y.), and Fredonia's only other senior, midfielder
Ally Tatro (Fairport, N.Y.), had one assist each.
Kendall Owczarzak (Depew, N.Y.) made 10 saves to complete a freshman season which saw her start all 19 games and play all but 40 minutes in goal.
Amy Sullivan and Sara Kazerouni had the Elmira goals. The loss dropped the Soaring Eagles to 3-12.
