GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Fredonia's 2014 women's tennis season opened Wednesday with an 8-1 loss to the Thiel Tomcats.

Chloe Cohen (West Hemstead, N.Y.), a sophomore playing in her first collegiate match, earned the Blue Devils' lone point. She defeated Lauren Wolfe, 6-2 and 6-3, in their No. 4 singles match.

In addition, Cohen teammed with sophomore Halee Dickinson (Brockport, N.Y.) in a hard-fought 8-5 loss to Wolfe and Sara Mateak at No. 2 doubles. Dickinson fell 6-3, 3-6, and 6-2 to Mateak in No. 3 singles.

The Blue Devils are back in action 1 p.m. Saturday at home vs. Brockport.
