BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y -- The Fredonia men's soccer team scored a 2-1 victory over Geneva at University Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Goals from
Max Prosser (Fairport, N.Y.) and
Paul Reinis (Webster, N.Y.) pushed the Devils past the previously undefeated Golden Tornadoes.
Prosser's goal came 22 minutes into the first half. A crowded box led to a deflection that Prosser slipped by the goalkeeper to give the Devils the 1-0 advantage.
Neither team could put the ball in the back of the net until the 71st minute when
Paul Reinis gave the Devils a 2-0 advantage.
Vinny Chimento (Akron, N.Y.) played a through ball to Reinis who beat two defenders and scored his first goal of the season.
The Golden Tornadoes answered the Blue Devil goal just two minutes later. PJ Luksik played a ball to Nate Musselman who netted the score.Â
Sammy Torelli made four saves for Fredonia. Bryan Butler had four saves for Geneva. The Devils outshot Geneva, 16-11.
With the win the Blue Devils improve to 4-1 while Geneva drops to 4-1-1.
Fredonia travels to Nazareth on Tuesday.
